The Piano Player - Megan Moore

Chris Moore has a devoted wife and Assistant Director of the show Grease. It was the Clermont Northeastern High School 2009 production show held at Krueger Auditorium at U.C. Clermont. April 3 and 4th. It was a great show and all the hard work showed in the quality of the performances. The whole cast did a super job.

GM: Government Motors - What Next

It has started, the government is telling private industry directly what they want done. The man of hope and change is offering a huge change. He seems to want large government and control of all major industries, health, environment and financial part of the American economy and how we live our lives. They feel government knows best and can help you make the right choices. You become dependent on the government since they begin to control your choices.

Some might feel that is fine and the kind of change we need. Greedy free market money hog corporations and just keeping the common man down. It is what most progressive IE: liberals have wanted for some time, make you feel entitled and lacking in personal responsibility. I had hoped for more of what Obama said while campaigning in a moderate tone. He has turned out to be a man of deeds not words. His deeds prior to this and the Chicago politics culture he comes from, the people have been duped.

It is time to stop the spending, it is money we do not have and we do not need a huge government. Put money in people's pockets and they will spend it, thus making jobs. People of the world put us in this economic crisis with one common thread, greed. 95% of the world is responsible, and we can also change it. We need less government in our lives. That is what America was supposed to be all about. Our balance of government is out of balance and the people need to tell the leaders, politicians, enough is enough. We do not want to live in a socialist country.

Birds of a Feather

It seems things are changing times are tough every where. One thing most agree on is we can not keep this spending at the current levels, we do not have any money. But I know one place that seems to always be hiring. I posted this YouTube clip since Daniel sums it all up perfectly. All joking aside it is getting to be silly what these people are doing. The USA is following right in behind, increasing it's debt in 5-6 years as much as it has in 233 years, 43 Presidents. We do not have the money, it can only come from working people and we are taxed enough. It is time to cut programs, do the right thing. Lower taxes and that will infuse equity into this economy. But they like power and doing that does not allow they to tell you how, when and where to spend it.

Trillion Here Trillion There

Then soon we will be talking about real money like this years budget. They spend us into the abyss. I see nothing good in all this government spending and how it soon becomes addictive. Problem is the money comes from the people. Now the government will collect your money and give it back to you in services. It has been heading that way since Roosevelt and the 30s. But now Nancy, Harry and Obama want to put the petal to the metal and spends as much money as they can to get more government in our way of life.

Problem is then the government wants to tell you how you have to live your lives. They do that with how they provide you those services and whether or not you are really in need of those services. Government knows best and will take care of you.

Just look at the new budget and how Nancy is trying to ram this budget down the throats of the House with one vote. She is out of control and power hungry like her minion Harry Reid. Trillions, doubling our national debt. That is insane and not a fair minded person can leave that to our children. Obama does seem punch drunk, he is smart but way over his head. Or more of a concern he really knows what he is doing, if so. We are all in deep shit.

American Apology

I hope our true friends in the U.K. do not think we are the uncouth and disrespectful people like our current President. I am not a huge fan of Gordon Brown but he is the leader of the U.K. and our countries have been close friends and allies for many years. It was total disrespect to return the bust of one of the greatest men of all time Winston Churchill. I was beside myself when I read the story in U.K. papers followed up on page 15 in our USA news media coverage. I am appalled and stunned this is not being covered more indepth than it is here in our country. This was as if a slap in the face of a friend, you just do not do stuff like this, not to civil people.

If you do not want something in the White House then have it placed in a prominent museum, you just do not ship a gift with such importance back to someone. What on earth are they doing up there? You put that with how the PM was treated and the shabby gifts we gave to Gordon and family on their first visit is just plain rude. No British flag, no major news conference, WTF? This is all just not what my country has been all about for well over 200+ years. You do not treat other people that way. It is a respect issue and it seems Obama is clueless or incompetent. At least in this case it is very clear he has issues when it comes to foreign affairs.

I wish it could be brought back to our country USPS and placed as mentioned and a apology sent with a meaningful exchange of worth to show what friendship is all about. What a total embarrassment to me and my country toward our good friends in the UK, please accept my apology, if Obama does not come forth and straighten this out. Not a good way to start off a new presidency.

Cincinnati Tea Party March 15th 2009

A gathering of people not happy with how our President wants to change how our system of government works. The event was a grass root effort to show displeasure with the amount of government spending. This was tax and spend protest by working tax payers. They want to tax us to death and our grand children, it is insane. Cincinnati Tea Party
There will be another event on April 15th, 2009 on Fountain Square. There at least 4000 people at this event. I think there is going to be many more at the next event. We will know more about the budget and how much and where they want to spend us into the abyss. There were at lot more today than I think most people expected. This only started a few weeks ago. Think as the word gets out how many more will go on April 15th.

Life's Priorities - My Family

It seems time moves more quickly when I started taking photographs again in 2001. I was given a HP318 by my Father in law for Christmas of 2000. He thought it was a bit pricey and wondered why I wanted a digital camera. My Canon Rebel had broken back in 1997 while on a trip to Disney World and for 3 years I just did not feel like taking pictures. Lots of things were happening back then in my life. New job, new house, my kids were taking more of our time. But digital got me back in the mood for photography. My passion returned for captured moments. I am not so sure my family was on board with my renewed passion. But I am glad I started it up again. Moments like these in Lakeside would be a memory, just not as vivid as a photo will rekindle the brain's memories. This was a last day on one of many trips to Lakeside where my wife grew up.

I find with ever passing day times seems to move faster. Ty is getting ready to head off to College and Max is not far behind. I wonder what it will be like in our home once the boys have moved on and started the adult phase of their lives. My sons are different in mood and how they seem to look at life. Much like my brother and myself. Looking back through my archives of pictures it brings back strong memories of my parents and what life was like when I was growing up. Life is Deer Park was typical Americana with kids on every street and people sitting out on porches late on summer nights to stay cool. Few people had air conditioning when I was a kid. Neighbors knew one another and often would talk to each other as they relaxed on front porches.

Time marches on and in some ways it brings new good things. In some ways it brings some not so good things. Times are a changing, it just seems it is picking up pace the older I get. I think things are changing faster than when I was younger. I wonder what life will be like for my kids when they get to be my age. I hope they are happy, one wish I have for them is to enjoy having some kids like them, they have been a pure joy and a reason for pride and enjoyment in my life. If you think about it in the end they really are the only thing I will leave behind that will last. Just like my parents, my heroes.

Almost Spring 2009

It was a very nice warm week end. It was nice to open the windows and let some fresh air in and get out in the yard and look around.. Make a check list for the spring and the contractor. Robb is going to be on a mission soon. We had some storms go through the area tonight and we got very little, it all went north and south of us. Not complaining, it did make for some nice skies, I took a few shots, they are still on my flash card. Rowe Woods 2007 or 08.

This is Insane - Time for a Tea Party

Pictures are from a better time. While on a trip to Washington DC walking down the Mall. Took this picture of a man reaching for a friend. The other picture is a reflection of a couple people near me.

I can not believe our country has fallen further under Obama than it did under GB in one 1/2 year or less. The markets are rocking since they see no leadership. All they hear about is massive government spending and higher taxes on the "rich". That is going to pay for it all, or most of it. It is insane, he has no clue how economics works. They are winging it which makes the whole process gyrate downward. The man of "Hope" and "Change" has turned to doom and gloom.

Now the new insane idea Obama has while we are in the middle of a major crisis in the markets and banks. We can fix it by reforming health care *huh? is this a man who has a clue as to what is happening on main street America, or some out of touch Narcissistic Socialist who wants to use a crisis to advance a political agenda. It seems that is what is happening, all the while our country and International markets look to the USA for some guidance in this time of economic uncertain times.

The cure, huge tax credits for small companies and individuals. Kennedy used it in the 60's, Reagan used it in the 80's, It worked after 9/11. People and companies spend money and create jobs. Not the government, it has been proven by history. Look at Japan as a perfect example. I fear Obama's "Change" is not what most people had expected. The back lash is beginning, the tax payers and voters are starting grass root efforts to have real "Change" for everyone, our kids deserve it, it is not fair to let this happen to them. Historic times, which I hope turn out well for all.

Ash Wednesday - Winter 2009

It has been a cold winter here in the Ohio Valley. More odd storms than I recall since I was younger. These things seem to go in cycles. Ash Wednesday was this week which is always a good sign spring can not be to far away. The days are cold and damp but not as bad as three and four weeks ago. I am tired of winter.

I am feeling old with my damn back hurting and can hardly do anything. If I move what even seem like light stuff I end up feeling sore. It is the kind of pain that is just there, can not really make it go away. Accidents and age do not mix well.

Senior Portrait

This is one of several I took this evening in my make shift studio. It is basically a wall and I arrange different lights. Nothing fancy, track lights and can ceiling lights on a dimmer. Ty kind of waited a while till he wanted to have his pictured taken, it all worked out in the end. Sharon is going to add some final touches and off to the year book it will go. This is not the one he likes, but I do. So at least it goes in my blog. His Mother also sent in a couple of pictures I took, one as a 1-2 year old, one age 18 playing in the band.

Time goes so quick, it seems like yesterday he was just a baby and enjoying trips to the Nature Center and not even in school yet. This fall he is off to OU and a whole new life. For everyone, me included. I got a little teary after the shoot and edit work. I told him how much I was going to miss him while giving him a big hug once he has gone away to college. The house will not seem the same. Max is three years away, time goes to quickly.

Heading Down River

Dave Swanson got me started on this and the more I read and the more I know about what our congress and Obama has passed as a stimulus bill has turned out to be one huge pork bill with a side order of relief to make it palatable for some people. My parents always taught me to save and not over spend, keep money for a rainy day and live within your means. Seems that is not what we should have done. We should have spent like fools, live in a huge house, rack up the credit card bills and wait for someone to bail us out, the rich. People who make for than $250,000.00 a year are now rich, and we will tax them to make up for the people who did not save, spent ever dime they had and now can no longer afford to live with tight money issues in our most current times. I will end up paying more for my kids college and taxes on our house and living so others who did not save can enjoy being stimulated.

All the spending seems to be going to people who do not pay taxes live off the tit of the government and now will enjoy welfare all over again. I thought we had learned that did not work? People are humans and if they can get something for nothing, many will, or try too. They voted in November and now they cash in, we will pay their house payments, give them tax refunds on money they never paid and make sure they are well fed and have a nice house over their heads. I think the story or saying Robbing Peter to Pay Paul will always get the support of Paul. Ie Obama voters. Maybe people will wake up and throw the ass holes out of congress in a couple of years and if we are lucky get people in there that will change this mess before the ball rolls dow the hill to fast. It happened in 1994, it can happen 2010.

I just can not believe 3 Republican Senators voted for this pile of crap. They did not even read it. One thing Ma & Pa always told me, never sign something you have not read. Well 60 did, and enough in the house to put the thing into law. Dave said it best we are *ucked

Memory of Matt Maulpin

Matt came home last year after being missing in action for over three years. He was captured early in the war and was the longest MIA of the Iraq war. He grew up not far from where we live, we often travel past his old home. All while Matt was missing yellow ribbons were around everything. Phone pole, signs, you name it, some are still there. He did not come home the way we all had hoped, but at least he is home.

22 years - Happy Valentines

Over 22 years ago Min and I got married. We have been together since 1984, but tied the knot for a washer and dryer on Valentine's day 1987. Bliss ever since ... * I know she reads this blog.

Deja Vu All Over Again

Well we had high winds and rain last night and just like in September when Ike hit the area we lost power around 8:30PM. Now the road is closed since a huge tree in the Cincinnati Nature Center fell across Tealtown road closing it last night and most of today. It is laying over the power lines and the pole needs to be replaced. We hope they are able to get power back on faster than last time. We will have to stay some where if it is not one tonight, just to cold to sleep in the house. Was wonderful taking a luke warm shower and did not shave today since I really do not care what I look like at work. This comes after a day of talking to my Lawyer about the law suit. Seems all the ducks are in a row, we just need to tie up a few details before he files the paper work.

Min was not happy this morning and none of use are looking forward to coming home if they do not restore power by then. Last night I did not get much sleep with the howling winds and trucks looking over the damage. Lots of flashing lights make for little sleep. I think we are going to look into a generator for the house. Either a small one for lights or what some neighbors have that power up when power goes off. Pricey but worth the money in the long run, perhaps. At least we lost no trees and from what I saw the roof is intact as well as the gutters. We are thankful for some of our blessings.

We Pray

We pray people come to their senses before they pass this pork bloated horrid spending bill. Government spending helps little, private sector spending brings good jobs and employment. This bill will not bring us jobs or the desired effect to improve jobs or liquidity. Elections have consequential outcomes.

It is a bad bill and it needs to start over, but that will not happen. Nancy and Harry will not let their egos allow that. This will lay on the backs of our children if we do not do something. Steve Forbes keeps pointing out, change the market to market guidelines. That will quickly open up cash flow. Pass a bill full of direct tax relief to people and small businesses. They will spend it, at some point people need new cars and new appliances. Jobs will follow.

The money flow issue was not addressed today with enough detail. Lets face it they really do not know what to do. They need to look at history, JFK, 1960 big problems in the economy. Huge tax relief, things got much better. RR, early 80s after Jimmy Carter the worse president we have ever had left us with high 10%+ unemployment, double digit interest rates and a economy as bad if not worse that what we now face. Solution tax cuts.

Roosevelt tried government spending, WPA, etc. They did little to bring the economy out of the depression. WWII did that will all the jobs and allied counties coming together in a time of war. Japan spent 10 years in the 90s trying the same. Did not work, till it let the markets open. I pray we do not fall victum to history.

UK New Rules

Clock ticking on copyright

The government's call for views on the future of copyright has been given a cautious welcome. But, Olivier Laurent reports, it's imperative you have your say

UK photographers could see the first major revamp of copyright law since 1988 after the Intellectual Property Office launched a consultation on the future shape of copyright late last month, including new focus on orphan works.

On 16 December 2008, the IPO, under the remit of David Lammy, minister for higher education and intellectual property, released an 'Issues Paper' to help kick-start the debate about what needs to be done to ensure that 'the country's copyright system properly supports creativity, promotes investment and jobs, while inspiring the confidence of businesses and of users'.

While the consultation encompasses all sectors of the creative industry - with a particular emphasis on the music business - photographers have been urged by representing associations to make their voices heard in a bid to shape any changes that could come as a result of the consultation period.

Already, the Association of Photographers, the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies and the National Union of Journalists have announced that they will participate in the consultation.

Gwen Thomas, AOP's company secretary, says: 'We're looking at what difference it is going to make, but it's nice to see that the minister of higher education is interested in the issue.'

'The existing copyright legislation is based on an act that is 20 years old,' says Paul Broan, chairman of BAPLA. 'New methods for delivering stills to the public and for commercial use have developed so fast that legislation has simply not been able to keep up. It is encouraging to see a pro-active response to early European discussions, so that the UK can lead this initiative and shape European policy in a way that is relevant to UK rights-holders.'

The NUJ is also discussing its response, with a sub-committee of photographers meeting this week to discuss the issue.

The consultation period runs until February, after which the IPO will release a discussion paper - or Green Paper - that will become the basis of an official government consultation period. 'Based on that second phase of consultation, we will publish our recommendation in late spring,' an IPO spokesman tells BJP. 'This piece of work looks to ascertain where the UK is and where we should be in terms of copyright internationally,' he adds.

The IPO has asked a series of questions to the creative industry regarding the state of copyright in a digitalised world, with an emphasis on orphan works.

Freelance photographer Pete Jenkins, who will help formulate the NUJ's response, says that one problem is that 'members of the public, as well as organisations, are downloading images and publishing them without compensation through ignorance of the law.

'The absolute right to be recognised as the creator of a published work and the easy and affordable enforcement of that right will start to stop such practices and begin to ensure that creators are always paid for uses of published works,' he adds. 'There does need to be an easy to use and to enforce way for lone traders to obtain not only the payment of licenses fees but also an element of payment of damages to make unlawful use less attractive to would-be pirates.'

Legal enforcement of copyright infringement has proven to be a huge issue, especially for freelance photographers and small businesses. 'Even when piracy is traced and a conviction in the civil courts obtained, there is little chance of any recompense for the misuse, and indeed it is often difficult to obtain even the appropriate fee that could have been negotiated legally,' says Jenkins.

The numbers of copyright infringements cases could increase exponentially in the years to come if the US passes an orphan works bill that would make it easier for publishers to use works of art for which the author or copyright owner cannot easily be traced.

Photographers also fear that the IPO's consultation could form the basis of a European-wide orphan work bill that would threaten their rights. Already, the UK Gowers Review, unveiled in 2007, recommenced adopting a similar policy to the US, namely that works can be used if the copyright owner cannot be found after a 'reasonable search'.

BJP will continue to monitor the situation, publishing its own answer to the paper before the end of February. For more details, visit bjp-online.com.

In essence

The Intellectual Property Office's Issues Paper calls on the creative industry to debate four areas:

1. Access to work. Is the current system too complex, in particular in relation to the licensing of rights, rights clearance and copyright exceptions?

2. Incentivising investment and creativity. Does the current copyright system provide the right incentives to sustain investment and support creativity?

3. Recognising creative input. Does the current system provide the right balance between commercial certainty and the rights of creators?

4. Authenticating work. What action, if any, is needed to address issues related to authentication?

The Issues Paper is available on Intellectual Property Office's website at www.ipo.gov.uk.

Tealtown - Winter 2009

Well this morning I was getting my son up so he could go to practice at school. He looked out the window and asked me how he was going to get out of the drive way. Puzzled I looked out the window to see my car that was parked in the drive way had slide down about 50' nearly into the road. The ice and frozen over night and early morning thaw made is slippery enough for the car to start down the slope on it's own. I guess salting the end of the driveway was a good idea or the car would have ended up in the road. This week end is going to be warm and by end most of the snow and ice will have melted. Now we will be dealing with mud for a few days as the ground will be soft and wet and a total mess. Oh the joys of winter in the Ohio Valley.

Games - Winter 2009

In the basement with Ty and Max on a winter's evening. The game was over and Mother had left, I think she won. The past couple weeks have been brutal weather, -6F this morning when I left for work. The boys had a 2 hour delay for school, I was jealous.

Winter of 2009 - Vote Denied

Well the weather liars got the forecast wrong and instead of a dusting to a inch of snow, we got 8" all during the rush hour. It took me over 2+ hours to get home last night in white out conditions. I was wanting to get home to vote on a local bond issue and did not think I would make it, but I got in the door before 7:30. I was told I was to late. The law is you have to be there in the door before 7:30 but the poll workers wanted to get home and started to close up the polling places before 7:30. I told them I wanted to vote, I was told they were closed. I should have called the board of elections right then, but I was so tired and frustrated I just went home. I called Judy at the board and lodged a complaint but by then my only option was to drive to Batavia and vote. Not something I wanted to do in bumper to bumper traffic. She said they should have called her and asked and it was not right what happened, she was nice as could be, and will tell the poll workers how they had failed to perform their duties that snowy day. I know working the voting poll locations is a thankless job, my Mother did it for well over 30 years. I guess we chalk it up to "White Death Syndrome" ... so it goes.

Perintown Ohio - U.S. 50

Back in 1880 or so the town was one of the biggest cities in the area with a large population and busy industry. It was a major producer of yeast, flower, lumber and spirits. The town had it's own rail station and was a stop for many people heading east from Cincinnati on stage coaches before the trains. This is one of the last old house left from that era in the town and I fear it will soon be torn down. So I ventured out one morning and captured a few pictures of it in the morning fog.

Winter of 2009 - Ohio Valley

We got more snow last night and ice is still coating everything. The drive to work was worse yesterday than Tues or Wed. I am sure today is going to be a joy, people can get nutty in snow around here. The grocery stores are empty or low on some products since the trucks can not get to them. We got about 12-15" of snow and freezing rain coating the house, trees, roads just about everything. Many people have lost power and crews are in town from the south helping to get the grid back and all connected. The family have been off school all week except Monday, they are out of snow days so they will have to go extra days in June to make it up. Ty is not concerned, he will be graduated and they are exempt. These are just a few pictures I have taken since Tuesday, more coming as is the snow today and tomorrow.

Ice Not So Nice - Winter 2009

Like most of the country we got a lot of snow, followed by sleet and ice rain. Then rain, that froze when the snow re-started. A winter *ucking wonderland. It will be going down into the lower teens tonight so all of this will be rock hard by morning. Salt does not work below 19F other than traction.

Hawaii Cruising, - NCL Pride of Hawaii

Cruising into Maui on the good ship Pride of Hawaii. I took some pictures early in the morning as the ship was coming into the harbor. Was a perfect morning in Hawaii, like all days seem to be. At least when we cruised the islands. Still waiting to hear when and where we are headed to on vacation. I have to find out from Martha what she has planned. Got to get pass ports updated and be ready for any where. Or could stay domestic, we will see what happens.

This vacation was nice, the ship was a bit crowed do to the 4th of the July week end. It was a huge ship. Free style cruising which I liked, others did not like the set up or service. I think the ship was moved to the med and had a total redo. We prefer smaller cruise ship like Celebrity's Mercury Cruise Liner. The foggy area is in the Ioa Valley on a 4th of July. Very cool place to see, the green color is excellent with the flowing streams.

Savanna Park

On a summer trip we stopped in Savanna for a day and enjoyed a evening walk around the cemetery and haunted houses of Savanna. At one stop I spotted a fellow relaxing on a park bench, I liked his relaxed smile so I captured it and him.

The guy was likely half lite but seemed to enjoy life, what more can you ask for. He seemed to be stress free and not wanting for anything. People might think of him as a bum, it is all in what people seek out in life and what makes you happy. Some people need a lot more things and or attention than other people. Some are happy to enjoy a day in the park sitting on a bench.

The Last of The Kennedy Dynasty

As soon as cancer was found, I noticed the immediate attempt at canonization of old Teddy by the main stream media.. They are saying what a "great American" he is. I say, let's get a couple things clear & not twist the facts to change the real history.

1. He was caught cheating at Harvard when he attended it. He was expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a classmate to cheat for him.

2. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed up for four years instead of two. Oops, the man can't count to four. His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England (a step up from bootlegging liquor into the US from Canada during prohibition), pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment shortened to two years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not Korea, where a war was raging. No preferential treatment for him like "he" charged President Bush received.

3. Kennedy was assigned to Paris, never advanced beyond the rank of Private, and returned to Harvard upon being discharged. Imagine a person of his "education" NEVER advancing past the rank of Private.

4. While attending law school at the University of Virginia, he was cited for reckless driving four times, including once when he was clocked driving 90 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood with his headlights off after dark. Yet his Virginia driver's license was never revoked. Coincidentally, he passed the bar exam in 1959, amazing!!!

5. In 1964, he was seriously injured in a plane crash, and hospitalized for several months. Test results done by the hospital at the time he was admitted had shown he was legally intoxicated. The results of those tests remained a "state secret" until in the 1980's when the report was unsealed. Didn't hear about that from the unbiased media, did we.

6. On July 19, 1969, Kennedy attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts. At about 11:00 PM, he borrowed his chauffeur's keys to his Oldsmobile limousine, and offered to give a ride home to Mary Jo Kopechne, a campaign worker. Leaving the island via an unlit bridge with no guard rail, Kennedy steered the car off the bridge, flipped, and into Poucha Pond.

7. He swam to shore and walked back to the party, after passing several houses and a fire station. Then two friends returned with him to the scene of the accident. According to their later testimony, they told him what he already knew, that he was required by law to immediately report the accident to the authorities. Instead Kennedy made his way to his hotel, called his lawyer, and went to sleep. Kennedy called the police the next morning and by then the wreck had already been discovered. Before dying, Kopechne had scratched at the upholstered floor above her head in the upside-down car. The Ken nedy family began "calling in favors", ensuring that any inquiry would be contained. Her corpse was whisked out-of-state to her family, before an autopsy could be conducted. Further details are uncertain, but after the accident Kennedy says he repeatedly dove under the water trying to rescue Kopechne, and he didn't call police because he was in a state of shock. It is widely assumed Kennedy was drunk, and he held off calling police in hopes that his family could fix the problem overnight. Since the accident, Kennedy's "political enemies" have referred to him as the distinguished Senator from Chappaquiddick. He pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, and was given a SUSPENDED SENTENCE OF TWO MONTHS. Kopechne's family received a small pay out from the Kennedy's insurance policy, and never sued. There was later an effort to have her body exhumed and autopsied, but her family successfully fought against this in court, and Kennedy's family paid their attorney's bills... a "token of friendship"?

8. Kennedy has held his Senate seat for more than forty years, but considering his longevity, his accomplishments seem scant. He authored or argued for legislation that ensured a variety of civil rights, increased the minimum wage in 1981, made access to health care easier for the indigent, and funded Meals on Wheels for fixed-income seniors and is widely held as the "standard-bearer for liberalism". In his very first Senate roll, he was the floor manager for the bill that turned U.S. immigration policy upside down and opened the floodgate for immigrants from third world countries.

9. Since that time, he has been the prime instigator and author of every expansion of and increase in immigration, up to and including the latest atte mpt to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Not to mention the Pious grilling he gave the last two Supreme Court Nominees, as if he were the standard bearer for the nation in matters of right. What a pompous ass.

10. He is known around Washington as a public drunk, loud, boisterous and very disrespectful to ladies. JERK is a better description than "great American".

Let's not allow the spin doctors make this jerk a hero -- how quickly the American public forgets what his real legacy is ... just saying.

Bug Eyes Alone

This is another picture taken on the same day as the photo Bug Eyes that Jim Hartley Smith was kind enough to show me what a picture can look like with a edited sky. This picture was taken at a different exposure leaving some of the sky, not blown out like the first few shots. Using a Coolpix 4500 with a very low angle allowed me to get the better sky and same view as the edited version. Thanks to Jim, his hangs in my hallway. You meet some nice photographers along the way and years on some websites. Sadly you meet some not so nice people as well, some of them have issues. But to the many nice people who know themselves, are self assured and feel secure in themselves to help people like me, thanks. To the others, oh well, pound your salt.

Mo

Nose knows, dogs see things that way. They scope out rooms and areas with the nose more than the eye. Pays to watch discovery channel for trivia. Mo always knew when Min was cooking her specialty, special shells, his favorite plate to lick. Mo was a good dog and we miss him. We buried him in the back yard. The last warm weather day of that winter. A gut wrenching emotional experience for the family. The kids came home from school to find he had pass away. He died January 8th 2006,

Winding Foggy Paths

It was foggy yesterday afternoon and I wanted to get over to Rowe Woods but I was cleaning the shrine and bed room and wanted to get it all done. Plus it was kind of cold and I was just not motivated to go out and capture the moment. So here is a couple from the archive I found last night. Taken winter last year in about the same conditions.

I was able to get out and get the new phones we needed as well as get a little shopping done. Today is grocery day and it is my turn. Min and I switch off week ends and it is my turn. I plan on loading up since we have a grocery war going on and food prices have dropped. Need to fill the clean pantry. Might just take the D70 with the 1.8F 50mm lens with me. One reason I like the camera, light and easy to carry. It seems Swanson is sending his cold air down here next week. By this time next week end they are talking single digits. It has been cold here but not much snow, it is all about 80 miles north of us.

Twisting the Night Away

Well it looks like we may be vacationing in California this June. Bill & Martha are thinking about a trip to San Fransisco and the surrounding areas with a final trip to Yosemite and the lodge in the park. It is still up in the air whether it will be to California or a Cruise in the Mediterranean. All depends on who is going and if we can get all families together for the trip. It looks like the end of June is the target date for either trip. What good news to start out the new year. It would be nice either place we choose to go. We got word something was up when we saw them at Christmas but did not get final word till after they got back off their cruise to Costa Rica. Till we find out where we are headed we will be twisting in the wind or water till final plans are made.

Cleaning Out

We did a lot of cleaning over the past couple weeks, all kinds of cleaning. My lab ceiling needed a lot of dust and cob web removed and the up stairs laundry room and pantry needed cleaning. I also did some website cleaning and updating. Yearly updates and copyright crap and etc needed changes.

Still more to do but we have all week end, the hall closet will be 1 hour at least. I cleaned up some old photos and found this film shot off the deck of our old house on Collins. I use to love that river view. Val Lemming hauled it all away ... so much for Cincinnati, Ohio zoning regulations.
